The Machine is a book about the 1975 Cincinnati Reds, On of the best baseball teams of all time. They had some of baseballs greatest players of all time, including Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, and Pete Rose. They started of slowly, but finished the year like no other team has in the history of baseball. Their manager, Sparky Anderson everybody thought was crazy, but all of his decisions started paying off. Putting in George Foster helped a lot, he hit home run after home run. All in all, the 75 Reds were one of the best teams baseball has ever seen.
One of the reasons I am enjoying this book is because it goes in depth for every player, and makes you feel like you're in the actual locker room for the 75 Reds. Lots of clubhouse conversations are mentioned, from insults between the big 3 ( Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, and Johnny Bench,) the starting pitchers mumbling about their hate for Sparky Anderson, and many more arguments between the Reds. I would deeply recommend this book for everyone.
